MIMM – Parties, Sleepovers and More

August 4th, 2014

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend. I know we sure did.

I’m going to start by saying sorry for the quality of these pictures. I only had my phone to hand and it seems the lens needs a clean. I blame all the sticky fingers playing Hairy Letters!

Saturday saw us playing ‘cinema’. The kids car seats were in the house so we set them up as cinema seats, everyone had juice and popcorn and we watched The Three Musketeers* (it’s an old one but the kids are obsessed).

I took advantage of the quiet to make a start on a couple of custom orders involving these little guys. How adorable are they?!

Saturday afternoon we headed off to a birthday party and then took Ava to Grandad’s for a sleepover. My mum, sister and niece are on holiday at the moment so Ava and her Grandad had some quality time together. She got him up nice and early on Sunday to take her cousins bike for a quick spin (sorry E!).

How cute is she?!

We spent most of Sunday having a fairly chilled day. The boys went for a walk to the woods with Daddy where they climbed trees and threw sticks over the bridge. I don’t have any pictures but will try to share some tomorrow. We had tea with Grandad and then made our way home with three sleepy children. Perfect!

How was your weekend? Did you have any fun plans?

Chocolate Chip Cookies

July 31st, 2014

If you’re looking for something to do with the kids today, try making a batch of chocolate chunk cookies (why bother with chocolate chips when you can have chunks?!). As a bonus, you get to eat them afterwards. There is no raw egg in this recipe so the batter is safe to eat. Just don’t blame me if you eat it all. And then get stomach ache!

Chocolate Chip Cookies (vegan) via

Moist, chewy, delicious cookies with huge chocolate chunks… yum!

Recipe (makes approx. 30 cookies)

2 cups plain flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup vegan dark chocolate, cut into chunks

1 cup vanilla sugar (you could also use caster sugar)

1/2 cup coconut or vegetable oil (I used coconut oil)

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/4 cup water

1/4 cup milk of choice (I used soy milk)

1. Mix together flour, baking powder and salt, Stir in chocolate chunks.

2. Mix sugar and oil well (if you are using coconut oil you may need to melt it slightly.

3. Add the vanilla, water, and milk and mix well.

4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix just until combined.

5. Roll the mixture into small balls and flatten slightly on an ungreased baking tray.

6. Bake for 5 minutes and then rotate the sheet 180 degrees. Bake for another 5 minutes.

7. Check them every couple of minutes until the cookies are a little softer then you want them to be.

8. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool for a couple of minutes on the baking tray before moving to a cooling rack to continue cooling.

9. Try not to eat the whole batch before they’ve had chance to cool!

*Please excuse the fact that there are only 4 cookies in the pictures. I forgot to tell Matt that the cookies in the cupboard were waiting to be photographed. Oops!

MIMM – Race For Life and More

July 28th, 2014

Happy Monday!

On Sunday I ran the Race For Life 5k in aid of Cancer Research UK. I ran it for the first time last year. I’m not really much of a runner so it was a good challenge and I raised a little money for charity (if you’d like to help me raise a little more it’s not too late to sponsor me, every penny is appreciated!).

I was 2 minutes slower than last year which was less than I expected. It was much hotter this year and I’m pretty out of shape lol. Next year will be better!!

After the race, we stopped by my dad’s for a quick visit. There was pizza for dinner and a quick game of football on the garden for Noah and his Grandad.

By the end of the day, I think I had earned this…

What did you do this weekend? I hope it was a good one!
